Adult Faith Formation

Life Everlasting: Heaven, Hell, Death, and Judgment is a five-session mini-study designed for today’s busy lives. Each session combines clear teaching, meaningful reflection, and practical application—helping you understand what the Church teaches about death, judgment, heaven, and hell, and why these truths are meant to fill you with hope.
With powerful videos and easy-to-follow readings, you’ll gain lasting insight into the last things and discover how living with eternity in mind gives everyday life deeper meaning and purpose.
Join us at Our Lady of Mercy Parish Center or from the comfort of your own home (via Zoom) on Wednesday evenings beginning January 14, 2026, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, as we delve into this 5-week study. Each session will include a video presentation and discussion. Class dates: January 14, 21, 28, February 4, and 11.
There is a study set (book and workbook) that goes along with this program. It is not necessary, but many find it helpful. The cost for this study guide is $19, including shipping. If you would like a copy, please let Denise know ASAP so she can get them ordered (youthminister@ourladyofmercyleroy.org or 768-6543).
Catechesis of Pope St Pius X
In his 1905 Encyclical Acerbo Nimis (Excessively Bitter) Pope Pius X noted: “It is a common complaint, unfortunately too well founded, that there are large numbers of Christians in our own time who are entirely ignorant of those truths necessary for salvation.” Unfortunately, over a century later, this statement can still be considered true. Many faithful and obedient Catholics participate in the sacraments of the church and attend Mass weekly but in their ignorance feel ill prepared for Catholic life as an adult and are robbed of the fullest fruits of Christian life. If you have had unanswered questions of the faith, a desire to grow, or to use your faith to live truly your best life, this class is for you. Using the Catechism of St Pius X promulgated the same year as Acerbo Nimis, this class aims to re-educate the faithful in foundational doctrines and to give new light to the timeless and enumerable wisdom, graces, mysteries, and treasures of the Church, and as in 1905 to fight the threatening spread of error in the faithful in modern times.
Join our own parishioner, Andrew King, for this study, where you will explore topics such as the Apostles Creed, prayer, sacraments, Church authority, the Ten Commandments and much more. Andrew is a convert to the Catholic faith, and brings much insight from his own years of study.
Classes will be held on Monday evenings,
from 7:00—8:30pm in the Bl. Mary Ann of Jesus Room in Our Lady of Mercy Parish
Center, began September 22, 2025, running through March 30, 2026.
Please consider joining!
And may the almighty God bless you and Our Lady keep you.
